Polly Adams Mervine, Member at Large

Polly Adams Mervine lives in Bridgeville, DE. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a BFA in Fashion Merchandising. Following her Marine husband overseas, she developed a love for teaching while working as a substitute teacher on base. When they returned, she attended East Carolina University to earn a certification in Elementary Education. Her husband completed his military commitment and they returned to DE where she taught 2nd grade in Laurel, DE until their son was born. Combining skills from both degrees, Polly co-owned and operated a faux finishing company before retiring.

She is honored to have been invited by Bill Sammons to join the board and feels so blessed to be a part of this amazing journey. She is awed every day by how God is using The Bridge to shine His light and bring hope into our community. Our Christian community is more connected because of the mission of The Bridge. There is something so special about Christian music. It meets us wherever we are on our path and fills us with positive messages that encourage and uplift us. This is something we all need and why she is so passionate about The Bridge.

Polly has been married to her husband, Jay, for 31 years and they have one son, Stephen.

As newlyweds, Jay and Polly lived in Okinawa, Japan. Polly enjoyed teaching conversational English at ANA (All Nippon Airways). She loves Japanese decor, Ikebana (flower arranging) and most of all sushi.
