On Saturday, December 7, at 1:00 p.m. the Milford Museum will present a program at the Milford Public Library by retired Milford High School teacher Tommye Staley. A science teacher at Milford High School for 24 years, Staley also taught at Wesley College for 16 years, at Del-Tech in Dover, and was a longtime member of Delaware Teachers of Science (DTS). She is coming to Delaware to debut her first book, Washing Worms: Memories of a Southern Girl. It is a beautiful story of a little girl growing up on an isolated island farm in central Arkansas in the 1940’s, a time when no one locked their doors and left their keys in their unattended vehicles. It was a time without fear. It tells of her relationships with the folks who worked on the farm and how they influenced her young life until a major change occurred in her young innocent life. This is her first book! However, she wrote the screenplay for the movie, Christmas Journey (on Amazon Prime) and several short plays.
