Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth. (Malachi 2:15) ESV

In this month’s Devotional Thoughts, I have talked about what being an ambassador for Christ looks like. How about when it comes to marriage or in our relationships with the opposite sex?

First off, let’s look at a marriage. Marriage is a two-way covenant between you and God and, secondly, between you and your spouse. When we make this covenant, we promise to be faithful to our spouses until one dies. This is a solemn promise to make. We promise to be faithful through health, sickness, riches, and poverty. We make ourselves accountable before God. We have made this covenant that will see the marriage through. There is no such thing as a marriage without problems. There is no such thing as a perfect marriage. We live in an impure and imperfect world. Things will be perfect only when we get to Heaven, but not until then.

For instance, there is no obligation when a couple is not married and lives together. It is easy to come, easy to go. There is no commitment, and we stand the chance of ending up old and alone because a rolling stone gathers no moss, as the saying goes. In the Bible, God does not condone sleeping together outside of marriage. A man of honor obeys God’s Word. If we are an ambassador of Jesus, He has called us to live honorably; this means we will be faithful to our spouse.

You may be in love with the most beautiful person ever, but if that person is not convicted regarding the sin of sleeping around, could you be satisfied knowing that person is sleeping with other people? Surely it would make you jealous and unhappy. The same goes for us. You and I can’t serve God and sleep around (worship other gods). Follow me here. God is a jealous God. He doesn’t want us to serve any other gods. He says in (Exodus 34:14), “The LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”

Friends, do we want to be an ambassador of Jesus Christ? If so, we must live according to God’s Laws; that is the only road to honor and happiness. Would you Pray with me?

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving me clear guidelines for living my life in Your Word. I recognize that Your Laws are there for my benefit and not to inhibit me. Father, please help me to say from the bottom of my heart that I love Your Laws. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Encouraging Words: Marriage is an opportunity to bring Glory to God as we reflect His Love Story.

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

God Bless you, Friends, and have a Blessed Day <><
