But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. (1 Peter 3:14-16)
Before becoming an ambassador of a foreign country, a person needs to be knowledgeable about that country. The person must be able to discuss and promote that country. The person must be able to defend and explain that country’s policies. Often the ambassador will have to help the people of that country understand a particular course of action taken. The ambassador has to be equipped to give an adequate answer to questions and inquiries.
Being an ambassador means that the person is often in the line of fire, so to speak – they are on display. People are watching them, watching what they do, and listening carefully to what they say. It is no different as an ambassador of Jesus Christ. We represent the Kingdom of God. We need to know God’s Word. We need to memorize it, and we need to absorb it into our souls. We can’t walk around with a Bible in our hands all day; it will likely scare people off, so we need to have the Word of God in our hearts. Moreover, I believe there is coming a time when the Bible will be removed from the world… just my thoughts.
An ambassador has to present his credentials to the President of the host country they are serving. These credentials prove that the government has authorized them to represent their country. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). These are credentials we present when we want to tell somebody about our Savior. What a beautiful introduction this is.
Lastly, Friends, to be an effective ambassador of Jesus Christ means we can explain adequately to those who question us for our hope in Jesus Christ. Would you pray with me?
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the privilege of representing You here on earth. Father, please help equip me to be a better ambassador for You. I want to hide Your Word in my heart so that I will always be ready to answer for the hope in me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Encouraging Words from (2 Corinthians 5:20) ESV: Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
God Bless you, Friends, and have a Blessed Day <><
