DEVOTION
When I ponder verses such as, "Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever," – found in Psalm 106, verse one, my mind can flow easily to praise and worship songs. It makes sense, since this verse is found in earliest hymnal! One of my favorite worship songs of all time is "The Goodness of God."
In the song, it tells how God’s mercy never fails. From the moment we are awake, until we lay our heads down upon our pillows, we can sing about the goodness of God. The worship tune speaks about how, through every fire or darkest night, we can be led by the One who is as close to us as a whisper. It comforts us to know that we can call God our father who watches over us through every moment of our life, as well a friend who will never leave us nor forsake us.
That’s the thing about recognizing the goodness of God throughout your entire life. Let’s be honest – as humans, we can experience dark circumstances. Some occurrences happen because of circumstances out of our control; other times we are the creator of the chaos that can wreak havoc in our lives. In spite of all of this, we have a God whose goodness and mercy follows us all of our days, calling us back to His embrace.
We can look at ourselves as a song God has crafted. He uses different elements such as lyrics, melody, harmony, momentum, with verses, chorus, a bridge, built around a solid structure, to make us different, yet a showmanship of His amazing creation. What a masterpiece you are! What a good God we have the pleasure to call our father, our friend!
