DEVOTION
When the late Fred Rogers – of "Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood" was a child, he related how frightened he became by the scary things in the news. As he later reassured others when frightening events occurred, Rogers stated, "My mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'"
Recently, the southeast was battered by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. In the aftermath, stories of God’s goodness and supply have been declared as church groups, faith organizations, and Christian-owned businesses have risen to the challenge to help those devastated by the deluge. Among the many churches that have organized relief drives, a local trucking business organized a supply drive with plans to send a single truck to help.
God's people showed up when the call was made to donate items. The trucking business has taken well over ten trips to a church in North Carolina, filled with various items – from water and non-perishables to medical supplies, animal feed for farm animals, and portable heaters. Whatever the need, God is using His people to help those who have called upon His name.
In the midst of troubles, God will send His people to help. Will we answer the call?
As we obey His voice, it will help others say, "Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!"
VERSE
1 Chronicles 16:8 (ESV: English Standard Version)
