It’s Day 27 of the Gratitude for Every Day 30-Day Devotion.

DEVOTION

I used to teach my children piano, and I played the keyboard for my former church's worship team. I also led worship for our women’s retreats. Now that I’m in a different season and no longer involved in those activities, I stopped playing the piano and got rusty. I missed playing. Lately, I’ve been practicing for joy, not out of duty. There are no children to tutor and no services to prepare for. However, I’ve been enjoying improving my skills to worship God and please him with the sound of rejoicing. I hope to continue to improve, but I’m enjoying the journey. For me, personal worship is a form of pouring out my gratitude.

Gratefulness is a powerful force that can transform our perspective. When we reflect on our blessings, we cultivate a spirit of thankfulness. We’re reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness in our lives. During challenges and difficulties, choosing to be grateful shifts our focus from what we lack to what we’ve been given.

In Jeremiah 30:19, we’re reminded of the promise of thanksgiving and rejoicing from the Lord. The verse says, “From them will come songs of thanksgiving and the sound of rejoicing. I will add to their numbers, and they will not be decreased; I will bring them honor, and they will not be disdained.”

Rejoicing is also a significant aspect of our faith. It’s more than expressing happiness—it’s a deep-rooted joy that comes from knowing and trusting God’s promises. Rejoicing allows us to celebrate God’s goodness, even during trials. We acknowledge God’s sovereignty and power over every situation when we rejoice.

As we meditate on Jeremiah 30:19, remember that God desires us to live with hearts full of gratitude and express our joy through rejoicing. We can allow thanksgiving to flow from our lips and joy to resonate in our hearts, knowing that God is faithful in fulfilling His promises. Today, we can choose to be grateful and rejoice in the Lord, for He is worthy of all our praise.
