Friday Nights
Something special happens on Friday nights in the fall months at high school football fields across the country. People of all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities and beliefs come together for a few hours to do ONE thing. Cheer on the home team!
Whether it's your child, grandchild, nephew or niece, student, or friend we full out cheer for our football team, cheer team and the marching band, don't we?! Oh we want the win for the home team, even if we don't know the rest of the team, because we want our person to feel the thrill of victory! And victory achieved when the whole team plays well is even sweeter.
Having a common goal among a group of people is strong motivation for digging in, working hard, pushing past the limits of just getting by to accomplish the work. Imagine what we could achieve for the Kingdom of God if we set our differences aside and focused on the Kingdom goals that God has planned for us. God's Word says 'Be of one mind' in 1 Peter 3:8. The Living Bible says, "And now this word to all of you: You should be like one big happy family, full of sympathy toward each other, loving one another with tender hearts and humble minds."
Be of one mind. Cheer one another on in the faith. That's a good goal to have today!
